Kangaroo Drought Over

We went weeks without a sighting.  Now it's pouring kangaroos.  Well, not really.  But, it seems that we only have to go into the bush to see the famed Aussie animal.  Understand that going into the bush means going to a public park.  For all of you who know my love of camping, and "roughing it" in general, you know a public park is as Bear Grylls as I get.  But, Ben and I did go to a local park, Tidbinbilla, and saw about 100 kangaroos, one koala, and a couple of black swans.  Check out the photo with the joey!!

In the neighborhood, is a deep space communication station, courtesy of NASA and the Australians.  One of the photos below if of the "largest satellite dish in the southern hemisphere."  Unfortunately, I didn't get a photo of 50-year old space food.  Seems that for an 11-year-old, the freeze-dried ancient space food was the best part (have to admit it was interesting and makes MREs look like they were made by Gordon Ramsey).  I did capture the moon rock though!
